Rev. Rebecca Trefz currently serves as the executive director of ministries and the interim district superintendent for the Southwest Director for the Dakotas Conference. On July 1, 2020, she will begin an appointment as the Southeast District Superintendent. She is a lifelong United Methodist who grew up in a family of pastors– a Grinager dad, uncle, and her grandfather were all pastors.
After completing an undergraduate school in Iowa, she ventured out to a couple jobs, one traveling and one in San Francisco. A nudge from God led her to seminary at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary, where she met her husband Steve, a fellow Dakotan.
After seminary she returned to the Dakotas and has served in several appointments. She says, “I feel like God has not stopped calling, in the sense of there is always this drilling on my heart. There is this shaping of my journey and passion for ministry. It gives me a restlessness that draws me towards God.”
