ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA--The 7th Annual “Coats for Kids and Other Folks” was held recently at Aberdeen North Highland United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, SD. Over 800 coats were collected then sorted in the fellowship hall. Over 400 coats were given away on November 8th. The remaining coats were again taken to Tree of Life Ministry in Mission, South Dakota.

Aberdeen North Highland UMC is becoming well known for this project.  The church receives calls from parents and school personnel starting at the beginning of the school year.

The entire church is involved in the project from youth to adults who give time with collecting, hauling, sorting and fitting on the giveaway day. The community of Aberdeen continues to be very supportive and provides new as well as gently used coats for the event.

Aberdeen North Highland UMC is still receiving calls, and tries to keep a few children’s coats available throughout the season.
