Residents in the South Dakota communities of Murdo and Draper were blessed with handmade valentines delivered by the middle school and senior high youth. The youth group from Draper and Murdo United Methodist congregations gave the cards to 75 households to mostly elderly recipients.
Ginger Phillips, the coordinator of the youth, reports that the responses were great. One older woman said, “You kids just made my day and week.” Another person posted on Facebook, “The Methodist youth brought a valentine surprise tonight, so thoughtful.”
Phillips said, “The woman’s Facebook post continued —‘It was great to see that we’re sharing and spreading the love. Thanks to all the youth and the joy they have brought us all!’ The kids were impressed at how everyone was so grateful, and they felt good for sharing. Spreading kindness like confetti in Murdo.”
