Worship Resources for Sunday, June 8
WORSHIP RESOURCES FOR JUNE 8
This year, our Celebration of Life in Ministry Service—a time when we ordain and commission clergy, recognize those pastors who are retiring, and honor clergy, clergy spouses, and former conference staff who passed away in the last year—will be held on Sunday, June 8, at 10 a.m. CDT at Downtown First UMC in Mitchell, S.D. In order to foster a greater sense of connection and shared ministry on this Pentecost Sunday, we are sharing resources for churches to incorporate into their worship gatherings. These resources parallel the liturgy and music of the Celebration of Life in Ministry Service and are designed to be led by a lay liturgist/worship leader. Understanding that our churches have varying worship times, technological capacities, and elements that are used in worship, we have created several components to be used individually or collectively to meet the unique needs of each church. The Google Drive folder includes:
- Official CLMS worship program (PDF) - In addition to including the full order of worship and bios about those persons being honored in the service, it also contains helpful instructions for the worship leader to share with the congregation.
- Abbreviated order of worship (Word document) - This will allow churches to cut/paste portions they would like to use into their regular worship format.
- Bulletin and Insert with abbreviated order of worship - For churches who want to participate in the full CLMS worship formatted for a local church.
- Powerpoint for worship - This includes the liturgy and hymn lyrics.
- Annual Conference Powerpoint template - These additional slide templates are provided if needed.
- Sermon from Bishop Lanette - Bishop Lanette recorded a sermon tying together Pentecost and our Annual Conference theme—"Created to Love BOLDLY"
- Sermon Transcript - This document is for churches who may not have the technological capabilities to show the video recording but would like to share the message.
For individuals and/or congregations who would like to livesteam the entire Celebration of Life in Ministry Service at 10 a.m. CDT, the livestream link will be on our conference website.
