United Methodists across the Dakotas-Minnesota Area are invited to participate in 100 Days of Prayer. Let us prayer for the Holy Spirit to break through as we journey through a season of denominational events.

The 2024 United Methodist General Conference (officially still titled "General Conference 2020") will be held April 23-May 3, 2024, in Charlotte, North Carolina. The last General Conference was to be held in Minneapolis, Minnesota until the pandemic made it necessary to postpone the quadrennial legislative event until 2024. The 31st session of the Dakotas Annual Conference will be held June 6-8, 2024, in Bismarck, North Dakota. The gathering will include inspiring worship, business, conversations about who and where we are, and celebrating clergy milestones.  Drawing on Isaiah 43:1, the theme of this year’s gathering is “Jesus. Redeemer.” We are all called and redeemed by God. God rightfully declares: "You are mine." The Lord not only knows us each by name, but God also calls us by name. The 2024 North Central Jurisdiction Conference will occur July 10-13, 2024, at the Convention Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  At a special session in January 2023,  delegates approved combining the Northern Illinois and Wisconsin conferences into a new episcopal area  and the East Ohio and West Ohio conferences into another new episcopal area . Leadership for seven episcopal areas in the jurisdiction -- a reduction from the current nine areas -- to which bishops will be assigned during the NCJ Conference. Learn more. 

The idea for 100 Days of Prayer emerged out of a desire to cover these events with prayer. The hope is that these prayers will act as an anchor for those United Methodists who are walking through General, Annual, and Jurisdictional Conference season with mixed emotions. 

These prayers will resonate with the overall human experience—struggles in our personal lives, anxiety about the state of our nation, hopes or uncertainties about the future—so that any person who reads or hears them will feel like they are giving words to the longings of their heart.

Prayers are divided into three phases to embrace each event: Phase I, days 1-35, April 1-May 4, 2024, will focus on Psalm 46 and include a Breakthrough Prayer for General Conference by Bishop Lanette Plambeck. Phase II, days 36-70, May 6-June 9, 2024, centers around Annual Conference, Isaiah 43:1, and Bishop Lanette's Breakthrough Prayer for Annual Conference. Phase III, June 10-July 13, 2024, prayers encompass the verses from Romans 12:9-13 and the Bishop's Breakthrough Prayer for North Central Jurisdiction Conference.
