Rev. Olu Brown and Chuck Bell to headline Annual Conference 2018
Rev. Olu Brown will be our teaching pastor at the Dakotas Annual Conference, June 7-9, 2018, in Sioux Falls, SD. Reknowned worship leader Chuck Bell will be our worship leader for all the sessions at the convention center.
Rev. Brown is a founding leader of Impact Church, a young congregation in the East Point community of Metropolitan Atlanta, GA. With Olu’s vision and leadership, since its founding in 2007, Impact has grown from a core team of 25 people to more than 1,800 attendees each Sunday, making it one of the fastest growing United Methodist Churches (UMC) and new church starts in the United States. Olu strongly believes in an active church, one that makes a meaningful impact in the lives of individuals and communities. Rev. Brown has written Zero to 80: Innovative Ideas for Planting and Accelerating Church Growth (2010), Leadership Directions from Moses: On the Way to a Promised Land (2017), and was a contributor to Flipping Church: How Successful Church Planters are Turning Conventional Wisdom Upside-Down (2016).
Chuck Bell has served as Music Director and Worship Designer in Methodist churches since 1996, but has also served in worship ministries in other denominations since 1988. Over the last 18 years, he has actively planned and produced over 3,500 corporate worship services in varying worship styles. He served as the Coordinator of Musicians for the 2012 General Conference of the United Methodist Church, where he assisted Dr. Marcia McFee in planning and musically directing and executing 27 worship services in 10 days. We are looking forward to Chuck's musical talents and his organizational and planning gifts to not only enhance our conference, but also give us worship tools to take home to our local churches. “Discover Joy: Live Deeply”—Our theme and speaker, Olu Brown, will focus on our Missional Imperative of Growing in Love of God and Neighbor. Rev. Brown and other plenary speakers and preachers, pre-conference workshops and event lunch-and-learns are great opportunities for equipping and inspiration for clergy and laity alike.
