The twenty-ninth session of the Dakotas Annual Conference will be held June 9-11, 2021, at Bismarck, North Dakota. The gathering will include inspiring worship, business, conversations about who and where we are, and celebrating clergy milestones.
After two challenging years of being apart we are ready to gather as one body at the Bismarck Event Center. Here are some of the detais for our time together.
Theme: Drawing on Psalm 23 and John 10:10-11, our theme is “Jesus: Healer.” We are a people and a world in need of healing beyond our doing. God invites us to come sit by still waters, and to allow God to restore our soul.
Bishop’s Episcopal Address: Bishop Laurie Haller will deliver the 2022 Episcopal Address, during opening worship, on Thursday, June 9.
Four engaging speakers on healing: In a Ted Talk style format, we will learn from four speakers about: Healing our Discord (consensus building), Healing our Loss of Direction (discipleship-Do/Know/Be), Healing our Racial Divides (building bridges), and Healing our Sense of Scarcity (rural ministry).
Missional Report: The 2021-2022 Missional Report will highlight the ways we have been in ministry together and are seeking to follow Jesus our healer.
Recognizing milestones in ministry: At a Celebration of Life in Ministry worship service Friday evening, we will honor friends and colleagues who have died over the past year, retiring clergy, celebrate clergy being commissioned, elders being ordained, newly assigned licensed local pastors, and licensed local pastors completing their educational requirements.
Legislation: Voting members will consider legislation put before them during the twenty-ninth session of the Dakotas Annual Conference including: the 2023 Budget Proposal, the Report of the Nominations Committee, Board of Pensions Report, resolutions, and petitions.
Miracle Offering: Our 2022 Miracle Offering, will soon be announced. We will collectively gather our resources to make an impact.
