Greetings to each of you in the Dakotas!
In just 15 days we will gather in Bismarck for the 29th Session of the Dakotas Annual Conference. I can’t wait to greet many familiar friends and meet new friends.
Annual Conference is so much more than simply a business meeting. Early Methodists saw these days as a time for learning, fellowship, and inspiration, so that
those attending could leave prepared and filled with the Spirit as they shared the Good News of Christ with the world.
That is my hope as well. As people of faith, we must always remember that we are people of Hope. “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.”
As Christ offered hope to an uncertain and hurting world, so must we. Again and again, we read of Christ’s promises:
“I come that you might have life.”
“Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”
“And remember, I am with you, to the end of the age.”
Christ’s challenge to us is clear. Our call is to:
• bring Christ’s Good News to our uncertain and hurting world,
• live as though we truly believe Christ’s promises,
• and make Christ’s hope real.
It is my prayer that these days together might be Holy days as we celebrate our love of Christ, and as we explore “Jesus: Healer.”
Blessings and Peace,
Bishop Deb Kiesey
