The United Methodist Church in Parker, South Dakota is a growing congregation. The church invites all to come worship with them and discover the peace, joy, and love that can only be found with Christ.

While they are located in a small community, Parker UMC is actively reaching out and sharing the Gospel through their many ministries. In addition to Bible studies and potluck fundraisers, Parker UMC regularly hosts a reach-out program for local children that encourages parents and their children to work together on various activities. Once a month, the church holds a breakfast for the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes and hosts a community weight loss support group weekly. Situated across the street from the public schools, the church often opens its doors to host various school and community events. Recently, Parker UMC has also started a Wednesday night contemporary service to reach more people.

With all the activities and outreach ministries happening at the church, it is important to have a useable space. While much of the church is in good condition, it was discovered that the roof leaks over the fellowship hall, kitchen, and pastoral offices. The leaks have caused issues in these areas and some activities have had to be temporarily moved because of it. To address the leaking roof, Parker UMC plans to install a new pitched roof to replace the old, leaking, flat roof. The congregation has been very supportive of making this project happen by offering prayers, support, and financial gifts.

Parker UMC has many ministry goals that they would like to accomplish. Unfortunately, these goals are hindered by their leaking roof. While some ministries have been put on hold or modified because of their roof issues, Parker UMC hopes to be able to continue to share the love of Christ with each other and the Parker community.
