The 2017 Dakotas Conference Thanksgiving offering was dedicated to United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) recovery efforts.
United Methodists across North and South Dakota gave generously. The total is more than $12,000. Three congregations with the largest donation, well over $1,000 were Brookings First United Methodist Church in the Southeast District, Kellerton United Methodist Church in the Northeast District, Spearfish United Methodist Church in the Southwest District.
"I am grateful for the generous giving. Let us to continue to pray for the people in Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, for those who have been affected by damaging hurricanes and flooding, and for those responders who are coming to their aid," said Bishop Bruce R. Ough, resident bishop for the Dakotas-Minnesota Area.
More than $2.8 has been received from churches in apportioned giving in 2017. The 2017 apportioned giving deadline is fast approaching. The cut off date for 2017 apportionments, direct bills and other offerings is Wednesday, January 17, 2018.
"Our churches continue to give faithfully. Thank you for your generosity," stated Jeff Pospisil, executive director of finance and administration for the Dakotas Conference.
