Plan to be sitting at your computer and ready to give today, December 1st, at 11 pm CST or 10 pm MST. Hundreds of Dakotans will go online and give as part of Giving Tuesday. The Dakotas Conference has several mission project efforts that are part of The Advance including: Teri and Evelyn Erbele, Haiti Solar Oven Partners, Ardell and Gordon Graner and Tree of Life Ministry.
Go directly to the Advance website to pledge support for these life-saving missions … and get your pledge matched dollar for dollar by UMC Global Ministries!
Does this sound crazy? Giving Tuesday (Dec 2, 12 am EST) is the United Methodist alternative to Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the spend-and-get shopping mania that infects the holidays. Non-profits across the country are promoting Dec. 2nd as Giving Tuesday, including the United Methodist Church.
Global Ministries has made a terrific offer—matching every gift given to UM Advance projects like Haiti Solar Oven Partners (HSOP) up to one million dollars ($25,000 maximum per project)! In 2013 Giving Tuesday craziness gathered more than $37,000 for HSOP.
Adjust for time zones--11:00 pm CST and 10:00 pm MST, go online and donate online in the same moments as United Methodists across the country contribute to their chosen mission projects in an overflowing of giving. The Global Ministries match ends as soon as the $1 million total is reached, probably a few minutes after midnight EST.
Get Ready, set and give. Double the impact of your gift. Yes, this is exciting!
