Sue Holloway, a member at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lead, South Dakota, has stepped into the role of chair of the missions committee with her whole heart and being. Primarily through the ministry of adopt-a-platoon. It began with a couple of boxes of cards and turned into 500 cards being sent to those who serve in the military.
She is the laity recipient of the 2022 Harry Denman Award for Evangelist for the Dakotas Conference. The award was received during a worship service at Trinity UMC and formally announced at the twenty-ninth session of the Dakotas Annual Conference held in Bismarck, North Dakota.
Each month Sue gathers a group of women to help prep the cards for mailing. Sue prays over each card and invites others to be in prayer for them. And helps folks to connect beyond the walls and city limits of Lead Trinity UMC.
"We've received messages through Facebook and written letters from recipients of how these cards have made an impact in their lives," said Pastor Peggy Hanson. "Once Sue receives direct contact, she'll continue to connect with them, encouraging, supporting, and praying for them."
Holloway has experienced the hope and love of Jesus in her life and has traveled much before the COVID pandemic. In her travels, she's met and talked with those who felt distant and disconnected from those they feel called to serve and protect.
Sue helps build important bridges to connect these recipients to those who are thankful for their service. Some of the recipients have connected with Trinity UMC through our weekly worship.
Thank you for making a difference and "making disciples for the transformation of the world."
