Lisa Haigh, UMW president, presented the 2017 Special Mission Recognition pin to Carol Carlson during the morning worship service at the Hitchcock United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 29.
Haigh said, “Each year the Hitchcock United Methodist Women pick a recipient for Special Mission Recognition. Carol has shared her gift for ministries with our adults, children and youth. She is the Sunday School Treasurer, VBS Volunteer, Past UMW President & currently the vice president of UMW, on the Mission Committee, is the co-editor of the Methodist News and rotates our church wreaths. Whenever something needs done we can always count on her to put forth the effort and leadership it takes to accomplish it.”
Tom and Helen Pickles were honored during the morning worship service of the Hitchcock United Methodist Church. Tom has assumed the leadership role for the church during the interim without a fulltime pastor. Jeff Gatzke, chairman of the church council, said, “We appreciate Tom’s leadership and guidance during this time. He and Helen are a great team and share their ministry with our church, the community, and the nursing homes. It is fitting we recognize them with a token of appreciation during October which is also Pastor Appreciation Month.”
