Ben Ingebretson of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is Director of New Church Development for the Dakotas-Minnesota Area of The United Methodist Church—a role he began on Jan. 1, 2016.

He has experience working with organizations, churches, and denominations including The United Methodist Church and the Reformed Church in America (RCA), for which he co-led the planting of more than 275 churches in 10 years. He also led the development of more than 45 church plants in the Michigan Conference of The United Methodist Church.

Ingebretson recently sat down with Christa Meland, Minnesota Director of Communications  to talk about his past experience, what his first year on the job will look like, the factors that help determine when and where to plant a church, what it takes for a church plant to thrive, particularly successful church plant models.
