Rev. Kermit Culver, Northwest District Superintendent, invites all United Methodists in the Dakotas to join in Praying Our Way Forward.
Gracious and Almighty God I confess that praying for clarity as we seek a way forward comes with presumptuous assumptions. Even praying for your will to be done means accepting whatever the outcome, even if the outcome was not the one we desired, otherwise, we didn't really want your way, we presumed our own. Praying for a group of men and women to be unified as they discern your way, presumes humans can ever really know all of your heart and mind. Accepting that the church we love will at best look radically different, at worst will feel like a failure, presumes you care more about United Methodists, than lost, broken, and wayward people. Your Church will never fail, ours is only a small cog in the wheel. So please God, grant us humility and an unwavering commitment to accepting your will, as we work, not just for our church, but for your Kingdom. AMEN
