Breakthrough Ministry Grants are offered to churches and related organizations from the Dakotas Methodist Foundation and Dakotas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Mission u | Virtual event Aug. 11-13
Virtual Mission u is an opportunity to study current issues impacting society with attention to the responsibilities in fulfilling the mission work of the church. Participants will grow in their understanding of the mission of the church in the current world context. This year's curriculum is designed to be easy to use in small groups, local churches, retreats, and other settings. You can still register for Virtual Mission u by Aug. 4, then join us Aug 11-13 (evenings and Saturday).

Jurisdictional Conference Scheduled | Nov. 2-5, 2022
In response to Judicial Council decision 1445, the Council of Bishops (COB) has formally set the dates for regular sessions of the Jurisdictional Conferences of The United Methodist Church (UMC) to be convened November 2-5, 2022. Each jurisdiction will determine how many bishops will be elected in their areas. See the full press release here.

In Our Hearts | Robert "Bob" Bale
Bob Bale, 93, Mandan, passed away July 18, 2022. Bob was the father of Kris Winckler, and father-in-law of Rev. Joel Winckler, district superintendent of the Northwest District of the Dakotas Conference. Our sympathy goes out to Joel and Kris Winckler. Funeral services were held at the Mandan United Methodist Church, where he and his wife, Bea, were charter members. An obituary can be read here.
In Our Hearts | Allen Charles Miller
Allen died at home the morning of July 12, 2022, at the age of 65. He was the husband of Myrna Hill, past co-lay leader of the Dakotas Annual Conference. They live in Sturgis, South Dakota, where they were members of Stugis United Methodist Church. We extend our condolences to Myrna in this time of loss and grieving. Allen's funeral was held on July 20 at Sturgis United Methodist Church. An obituary can be read here.
Director of Children's Ministry | Sioux Falls First UMC
First UMC in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is hiring a Director of Children’s Ministry. This is a position that will build a growing thriving children’s ministry program that will build relationships with families and children ages birth-5th grade. This will be done by helping families and children know, experience, and follow Jesus and equip parents to be the primary disciple-makers in their children’s lives.
