AC Call for Petitions, Resolutions, and award nominations | Due March 31
It is time to gear up for the 2023 Annual Conference. Do you have a resolution, petition, or specific legislation you would like to have considered at the 2023 Dakotas Annual Conference, being held June 8-10, 2023, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota? All proposals for petitions and resolutions for the Dakotas Annual Conference Session must be submitted electronically, by March 31, 2023. Several awards will be announced at annual conference. Some are chosen by the cabinet, some by CCYM, and some via open nominations.

Clergy Well-Being Grants | Apply now
The 2023 Clergy Well-Being Resource Grant is now accepting applications! The Dakotas-Minnesota Area offers our clergy this grant of up to $1,000 for first time applicants and up to $500 for those who received a grant in 2022. Funds could be used for a health coach, spiritual director, gym membership, hiking boots, a creative arts experience, a course on resilience or trauma, and more.

Are you a Certified Lay Minister (CLM) or a lay person who would like to learn more about preaching and leading worship? The upcoming Lay Academy will help strengthen your understanding and skills for preaching and leading the spoken parts of worship. Bishop calls special session | Aug. 15
After consultation with the Dakotas Appointive Cabinet, Bishop Lanette Plambeck is calling a special session of the Dakotas Annual Conference for August 15, 2023, beginning at 7:00 p.m. central time and 6:00 p.m. mountain time. The session will be entirely virtual. This will be the final called conference for disaffiliation in 2023.

The Final Week | Week Five 2023 Lenten Study
Rev. Kris Mutzenberger, dean of the Dakotas Cabinet, brings us chapter five, The Final Week from "Luke: Jesus and the Outsiders, Outcasts and Outlaws" by Rev. Adam Hamilton. Rev. Mutzenberger shares, "In Luke and throughout Jesus’ final week, we discover that Jesus is indeed looking on the heart; Jesus is imploring those around him to examine the deeper motives, to look beyond the outward appearance and discover what’s in the heart of a person, and in so doing asks them to examine their own hearts."
Court rules on General Conference questions
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UM News) — The United Methodist Church’s top court released a decision about the long-delayed General Conference, now set for 2024. The Judicial Council addressed bishops’ questions about how to deal with delegate vacancies and whether another General Conference must be scheduled before 2028. Heather Hahn reports.

Bishop Kenneth H. Carter Jr.’s new study guide, “Unrelenting Grace: A United Methodist Way of Life,” seeks to help denomination members rediscover the core Wesleyan values of grace, holiness and connection. United Methodist Publishing House is extending a special prepublication offer for bulk orders of the resource. The new deadline is March 27.
Midwest Distribution Center expands
For years the Midwest Mission’s facility in Pawnee, Illinois, has been booked with volunteers—sometimes even one to two years in advance—and cannot add more space at its current site. Because of these restraints, the board of directors sought opportunities to expand their operations in the North Central Jurisdiction. They chose Jefferson, Iowa, as their new location.
