Everyone Wins in White River: Most churches have space that is unused during the week.  White River United Methodist Church in White River, South Dakota has filled their space with kids and laughter. Each day children from the public school come to the church and participate in an after-school program that is run by volunteers and donations. Click here for the full story

Feeding souls and kids in Watertown: What started as one small group working at Watertown First UMC has exploded into a huge community effort to provide nutritious food items to children who are living everyday with food insecurity. Children who wonder where their next meal may or may not come from and who would prepare it. The program does more than provide food. It feeds the souls of many. The little prayer box: The cost is low but the return is high. A prayer box, made with simple materais—a post, mailbox, paint, paper and pencils. Anita Stephenson, Viborg UMC, saw a post on Facebook that a friend was contemplating suicide. “I immediately sent her a text,“ said Stephenson. "I sent some scripture references and my prayers. It really got me thinking—How many people in our small community are struggling with some kind of issue and need prayer?” An idea found on the Internet, to reach out to anyone driving through town.  Click here for more

Faye Sweet 98,  actively serves the Lord:  Every week Faye Sweet, age 98 prepares the bulletin for Iroquois UMC. At a time in life when many people would retire from volunteer work, Sweet works with joy from her home office preparing the content and printing the 80 bulletins needed each week in Iroquois, South Dakota. “You have to be dedicated, you can’t really retire from the Lord,” said Sweet.  Click here for the full story
