National Relief Charities (NRC) in Rapid City, South Dakota is looking for volunteers to help assemble 35,000 Christmas Stockings. The stockings will be distributed to 25 reservations on the Northern Plains, and portions of them are given to our own Tree of Life Ministry on the Rosebud Reservation.
In 2012, ten pallets filled with stockings were given out to the 21 communities serviced by Tree of Life. NRC provides all of the materials. Volunteers need to come to Rapid City and donate time to assemble the stockings. Volunteer now and bring Christmas joy to many Native American families.
If you would like to help, or to bring a group from your church, please call Marie Keller, NRC Program Partner Specialist, to schedule a day and time. Marie can be reached during normal business hours at 866-556-2472. Marie asks that you contact her as soon as possible.
Volunteers are asked to dress appropriately; closed toed shoes, long pants, sweater in case it is cold in the preparation area. The day begins at 7:30am (MT) and ends at 3pm for volunteers assembling the stockings.
Russell Musartis, Director of Tree of Life Ministries states, “Come for the day, or a portion of the day. Your help will be greatly appreciated. MItakuye Oyasin (We are all related).”
