Reverend Brandon Vetter was presented the 2015 Francis Asbury Award in Fargo, North Dakota at Annual Conference. The award recognizes and encourages support of higher education and campus ministries within The United Methodist Church.
Brandon Vetter worked at Dakota Wesleyan University as the campus minister from 2006-14. During his time, he increased both budget and visibility of the campus ministry. He also had the vision to plant a new church on campus that would reach unchurched persons in the community as well as connect students with the life and ministry of a local church.
However, the biggest impact of his ministry was in leadership development. Eric VanMeter, current campus pastor, said, "The students I inherited are self-starters who knew how to lead initiatives, plan events, handle logistics and manage budgets. They also had a good base for knowing how to care for people. When he transitioned roles, Brandon was nothing but supportive of me and the students he left behind. He’s able to do the work of ministry by trusting people and staying humble, which are wonderful traits"
In 2014, Brandon was appointed to serve this new church, Fusion, full-time. He has continued to minister to and disciple college students from the role of local church pastor. Fusion is a church that not only welcomes and disciples college students, but also provides them with opportunities for leadership and growth.
Vetter began an appointment to Legacy United Methodist Church in Bismarck, North Dakota on July 1, 2015.
